Practical Tips To A Cleaner Kitchen
Your kitchen can be one of the messiest places in the house, though it should be kept the cleanest. That is where you prepare your food, after all. While it can take time to clean up after yourself and ensure that the kitchen stays spotless, it is
essential to ensure a sanitary cooking environment so that you can keep you and your family healthy.
With that in mind, here are some tips that will make it easier to maintain a clean kitchen, even if you only have a little bit of time each week to clean.
Everything In Its Place
One of the biggest problems with keeping a clean kitchen is how much clutter tends to build up there. You take a tool from somewhere else in the house and use it for one small task, and then it ends up sitting in the kitchen for a long time.
Or you take out a kitchen appliance like a toaster, juicer or other small item and never remember to pack it away. What all this does is create a mess. And once your kitchen gets cluttered, it is easy to just let it build and build. Pretty soon, you have yourself a very unruly kitchen.
You have to train yourself to clean your kitchen as you go. Every time you finish cooking, clean up after yourself. Maybe not all the dishes can be cleaned right then because they need to soak, but at least put them in the sink or dishwasher so they are not cluttering up the counters. And make sure that every item in the kitchen has an assigned place. If you don’t use it your messes to a minimum.regularly, it should not be on the counter. The cleaner you keep your kitchen counters, the easier it will be to keep
Keep The Bugs Away
One of the biggest reasons to keep your kitchen clean is to keep insects away.
Ants, flies, maggots, roaches and spiders all contribute to make your kitchen unattractive and an unsafe place for you to cook in. Spiders may be great at killing some of the other bugs, but they aren’t going to kill so many that it makes a
noticeable difference. They also leave tiny bits of dead bugs lying about the surfaces near their webs, so you don’t want to keep them around.
To keep bugs from ever entering your kitchen, you want to ensure that all food is sealed up tight. If that means putting opened foods in Ziploc bags or using clips on everything, then so be it. You can also store much of your food in the fridge once it has been opened. If you have any fruit on your counters, be sure to toss it as soon as it gets spoiled.
It is not just usable food that attracts pests though. You should also change out your garbage regularly and clean the sponges and scrub pads in your sink. All these can attract pests if they are allowed to remain dirty over time.
